ELEMENTS AND QUALITIES  of the twelve signs of the zodiac

The signs of the zodiac can be sorted in a number of different ways.  The chart below shows the four elements and some keywords to help the student get the feel of the three signs of each element.  We will go over this in more detail in subsequent posts .  The most common misconception is that Aquarius is a water sign because of its symbol, The Water Bearer.  Aquarius is, in fact, a intellectual Air sign (think Mr. Spock).

Another division of twelve signs of the zodiac is attuned to the four seasons of the year.  The Cardinal signs begun each new season and are signs of leadership. The Fixed signs are the administrators.  The Mutable signs are adaptable and ease into the following season.
